The Northern Co-operative Meat Company Ltd is a Co-operative registered under the N.S.W. Co-operatives Act 1992. Producers and Operators are able to become members of the Co-operative by purchasing 250 stock units at A$1.00 each.
The Co-operative offers two different types of membership:
- Producer membership and
- Customer/Operator membership.
Members are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting in early November (of each year), to discuss the Co-operative's Annual Report and other matters. Members are also invited to attend Special Meetings that may be held from time to time.
Each year the Co-operatives Board of Directors may recommend a rebate and / or a dividend be paid. A rebate, if declared, is based on the Producer Members total "Hot Standard Carcase Weight" processed through the plant during the year. The Co-operative may also pay a direct consignment incentive payment to producer members who directly consign cattle and veal to the Co-operative's Casino processing plant.
Members are regularly advised on issues relative to the meat industry and Co-operative matters through the Co-operative Newsletter.
